Ed Sheeran wins his second VMA EVER after taking home ‘Artist of the Year’ at this year’s show.When you look at the other artists Ed beat out for “Artist of the Year”, you know he’s going home feeling all kinds of extra tonight...
Ed won what was definitely one of the most competitive categories of the night, beating out Kendrick Lamar, Ariana Grande, The Weeknd, Bruno Mars, AND Lorde, for the coveted “Artist of the Year Award”. Millie Bobby Brown called Ed her “personal favorite” in the category before she presented the singer with his “Moon Person”, and while his acceptance speech was short and sweet, Ed did take the time to mention that this was surprisingly only his SECOND VMA win in his entire career!
Okay but seriously, how does Ed not own like 50 Moon People at this point?! Regardless of it only being Ed’s second VMA, it was a GIGANTIC win for the “Shape of You” singer, because as we mentioned earlier, “Artist of the Year” was NOT an easy category to compete in. Ed’s “Artist of the Year” award may have been a long time coming, but it was certainly very well-deserved, and hopefully it’ll inspire him to keep making great music that we can dance, cry, and sing along to for many years to come.
