The "German F&B Festival" at a mall in Klang may proceed as scheduled because organisers had obtained permission from the Klang Municipal Council (MPK), said Selangor senior exco member Teng Chang Khim.
In a letter to the event organiser dated Sept 14, North Klang district deputy police chief Nor Omar Sappi said the police had "no objections" to the said event and "supported" the organiser's application.
However, North Klang district police chief Mazelan Paijan said on Saturday that there was no such letter and that the police will not allow the event to take place because alcoholic beverages will be served.
Teng disputed this and claimed that the police had urged the event organisers to "return" the Sept 14 correspondence, and that there were no correspondences stating their objections to the event.
