Fashion Designer Kate Spade Found Dead At Age 55 In NYC Home

Authorities in New York have in fact confirmed this terrible news, naming the time of death today at 10:26AM. TMZ reports that Kate Spade hung herself in her home. They’re also reporting that the designer did leave a note at the scene. Other reports note that alchohol and drugs were not involved. She was discovered by her housekeeping staff with a red scarf around her neck that was attached to a doorknob.
Kate Spade began her handbag line with her husband Andy Spade in the 1990’s. When the brand was acquired in the early 2000’s for upwards of 125-million-dollars, Spade stepped away from the business to spend more time with their daughter Frances. Just a few years ago, Spade stepped back into the fashion world, kicking off a new handbag line called Frances Valentine after her daughter.
