A plastic factory in Kampung Baru Belakang was destroyed by a major fire that broke out in the afternoon of 2 May 2022.

Balakong state assemblyperson Wong Siew Ki said in a facebook post that the fire came under control at around 8:30pm. Volunteer fire brigades from Balakong, Bangi and Kepong were also on the scene to help put out the fire.
