The Department of Health said there were now two confirmed infections in the Philippines.
The deceased man from Wuhan in Hubei province, the epicentre of the outbreak and a woman he was travelling with.
They said the man, who was admitted to a government hospital in Manila on the 25th of January, had developed severe pneumonia and died on Saturday.
