Islamic Pilgrimage Fund Lembaga Tabung Haji is, as of 1 January 2019, administratively under Bank Negara Malaysia.
Today, Tabung Haji chief executive officer Zukri Samat explained in a press conference that the SPV is parked under Bank Negara to add an extra set of checks and balances to reduce the number of poor financial decisions that have plagued the fund in the past.
Tabung Haji's recovery efforts to get back on track in 2018 involved the creation of a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) to rehabilitate their underperforming assets while allowing the fund to focus on growth.
