Prices of some vegetables have reportedly soared by 200%, and the price of chicken has also risen to around RM10 per kg.

The price hike of goods has been the most discussed topic in the country recently. Many are feeling the pinch as the country continues to cope with the economic impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The hawkers are also caught in a dilemma due to the price hike. A stall owner at the hawker centre said, almost half of the hawkers here have closed their businesses.

After the movement control order, customers have decreased significantly causing them a loss of income. And now, with the price hike, their hands are tied and are forced to adjust their prices to survive.
