Harapan has conceded defeat and congratulated BN on winning the state election.
Malacca Harapan chief Adly Zahari says the outcome was due to the low voter turnout.
"From the onset, we told everyone that Harapan's chances hinged on the turnout being above 70 percent," he tells reporters at the coalition's operations centre at LaCrista Hotel.
Harapan leaders said they would do a post-mortem to determine the areas which can be improved.
