You guys, can you all just like, let Harry live? Please? He does NOT deserve this.
Being accused of ripping off a song happens to almost every artist at least ONCE in their musical career and it didn’t take long for that to happen to Harry. In the midst of the launch of his solo career, the ‘Sign of the Times’ singer was accused of ripping off a riff from 70s rock band Badfinger’s song ‘Baby Blue.’
After Harry performed his song, ‘Ever Since New York,’ from his self-titled debut album on Saturday Night Live, the singer was bombarded with tweets claiming there were obvious resemblances between Harry’s guitar riff and the one in the 70s track, ‘Baby Blue.’
One Twitter user pondered if Harry got permission from the band to use the riff while another mentioned that it’s very important to give Badfinger songwriter Pete Ham credit. So, just to give you all a point of reference…here is the guitar riff in Harry’s song…
And this is the one musical fans are comparing it to.
After the accusations came to light, an industry insider told The Sun that the fan made allegations is definitely not what Harry needs at the moment. They said QUOTE, “This is the last thing Harry needed. His solo launch hasn’t quite gone to plan and this is another distraction. He takes real pride in his new material and to be accused of nicking a riff will really hurt.”
Do you guys think the songs sound super familiar or is everyone just nit picking on Hare Bear? Let me know in the comment section below and don’t forget to subscribe to Clevver news. I’m your host Ashley Iaconetti thanks so much for tuning in.
