Hong Kong leader Carrie Lam said that China “understands, respects and supports” her government’s move to formally withdraw the extradition bill which would have allowed extraditions to mainland China.
She also hopes that with the withdrawal of the bill, it would help the city “move forward” from months of unrest during a press conference on Thursday.
