Hong Kong police defended an officer's decision to shoot live fire at a protester on Monday (November 11) saying he was protecting himself.
The officer shot and wounded one protester who, hospital officials said, was in critical condition on Monday, as the Chinese-ruled territory spiralled into rare working-hours violence in its 24th straight week of pro-democracy unrest.
Police also condemned the setting of fire of a man who was allegedly in disagreement with protesters outside Ma On Shan Plaza in the New Territories.
