Indian street food Kolkata pav bhaji | Recreating Indian street food | Cooking Indian food at home

Chasing a Plate Cooks is all about recreating food we have eaten on our travels in our home kitchen. Today we're recreating pav bhaji from a street stall we ate at in Kolkata, India. Pav bhaji is a vegetable stew served with buttered toasted buns. It's made up of a number of different vegetables, spices and is cooked on a giant tava in front of the diner. In this video we try and recreate the meal we ate from a street stall located in Barrabazar the largest market in Kolkata. This series is all about using what ingredients we have in the pantry and fridge and substituting ingredients where necessary. #withme #streetfoodathome #indianstreetfood

Make pav bhaji at home:

Ingredients (serves 4-6)

White rolls
An assortment of vegetables, we used:
Half a cauliflower
2 large potatoes
2 tomatoes
Capsicum
Chives
A couple of handful of peas
1 brown onion
Garlic cloves
1 tsp ginger paste
Turmeric
Salt & pepper
Lemon

For the spice mix
1 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp ground coriander
1 tsp ground chilli
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp cardamom
1/2 tsp turmeric
1/4 tsp cloves

For garnish
Chopped red onion
Chopped coriander
