Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said he will not be apologetic for signing the Malaysia-US trade agreement as the country needs strong investment and trade with the US.

Anwar added that there is also an exit clause, and that the question of handing over the country’s trade sovereignty to the US did not arise.

“The issue of ‘surrendering’ does not arise. The same goes for China. If we’re seen as being on good terms, we get attacked, so who are we supposed to be friendly with - Kelantan and Kedah only? We need good ties with all,” he said.
