Jennifer Aniston just revealed in an interview that she’s interested in a Friends reunion and oh, I don’t know, could we BE anymore excited?
Ugh, I’m so happy, I want to cry.
It’s been well over 10 years since the iconic comedy ended on the small screen and during this new era of rebooting TV shows from the past, many Friends fanatics are wondering if their beloved show will ever make its return.
Although Friends creator Marta Kauffman did say a couple of years ago that a we should all NOT get our hopes up for a reboot, there’s something that Jennifer Aniston said recently about the show that gave us all a teeny tiny glimmer of hope.
Jen talked to InStyle and said QUOTE, “Before that show ended, people were asking if we were coming back. Courtney [Cox] and Lisa [Kudrow] and I talk about it. I fantasize about it. It really was the greatest job I ever had. I don’t know what it would look like today, but you never know. So many shows are being successfully rebooted.” What does this even mean, Jen?!
(3:53-3:57)
But, we probably shouldn’t get TOO excited because Jen went on to reveal that there’s definitely one person from the cast that needs extra convincing and that one person is Joey Tribbiani aka Matt LeBlanc.
Jen said of Matt’s hesitation QUOTE, “I know Matt LeBlanc doesn’t want to be asked that question anymore. But maybe we could talk him into it. Or we just give it some time and then Lisa, Courteney, and I could reboot ‘The Golden Girls’ and spend our last years together on wicker furniture.” Hey, I’d be down that for that too.
Aside from opening up about being down to revive her most iconic role ever as gal pal Rachel Green, Jen also talked about the world’s misconception about her love life and actually revealed that she’s not hurting after her very public breakup with Justin Theroux. Or at least she’s not hurting as much as everyone thinks she is.
Jen said of the public’s view of her, “The misconceptions are ‘Jen can’t keep a man,’ and ‘Jen refuses to have a baby because she’s selfish and committed to her career.’ Or that I’m sad and heartbroken. First, with all due respect, I’m not heartbroken. And second, those are reckless assumptions. No one knows what’s going on behind closed doors. No one considers how sensitive that might be for my partner and me. They don’t know what I’ve been going through medically or emotionally. There is pressure on women to be mothers, and if they are not, then they’re deemed damaged goods. Maybe my purpose on this planet isn’t to procreate. Maybe I have other things I’m supposed to do? … When a couple breaks up in Hollywood, It’s the woman who is scorned. The woman is let sad and alone. She’s the failure. F that. When was the last time you read about a divorced, childless man referred to as a spinster?”
You know, she makes a really good point. Maybe everyone should just lay of Jen and let her live her best life.
Now it’s time for me to turn it over to you. What did you guys think of Jen standing up for herself against her critics and how badly do you want a Friends reunion?
