Finance Minister II Johari Abdul Ghani says no country has reversed its implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) even if there was a change of government.
He was responding to former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s argument that Malaysia did not require a GST for the Malaysian economy to become an “Asian tiger” during his administration.
Johari defended the GST as “the most efficient tax system in the world” for growing a country’s capital, implemented in more than 174 countries with none backpedalling on it.
