It’s a sad day for fans of Super Junior, the K-pop group that’s been around since 2005.
What’s up guys? It’s Dani Golub with Clevver News and the 34 year old singer Kangin announced that he will be leaving the hugely popular group due to his past controversies, which are extremely serious and not to be taken lightly.
I just want to make it clear before we dive into this, that we are not supporting or promoting Kangin’s actions, we are just reporting WHY he is officially leaving the group. Let’s proceed.
In a statement posted to his Instagram, Kangin says that he quote “always just felt apologetic to the members” of the K-pop group.
He’s referring to past criminal investigations against him, such as an assault case in 2009 and two hit and run DUIs in 2009 and 2016.
Since his last incident in 2017 where he was accused of using violence against a woman, Kangin has remained pretty much under the radar.
Though he remained part of the group, he was eliminated from the lineup for Super Junior’s latest album.
Sooo, why leave now?
He said quote, “I always thought that it would be right for me to make the decision earlier rather than later, but the thought of the people who support me unconditionally and our agency family troubled my heart, so I could not gather the courage easily”
Fans of the group seem to be pretty apologetic for Kangin’s past.
One person said, “he will always be part of suju, no matter what anyone says. They’re already a family and nothing can ever break that. I wish him success in his future plans. Thank you kangin.”
Someone else shared a list of all of Kangin’s accomplishments and ways he’s helped Super Junior over the past 14 years. They said, “I really hope we can remember Kangin as someone who loved the group and fans with his whole heart”
I mean, I guess the fandom doesn’t call themselves “ever lasting friends” for nothing.
Kangin finished his post by saying “more than anything, I feel most apologetic to the E.L.F. who have always given overwhelming love for 14 years.”
So let’s hear from you guys. Do you think it was time for Kangin to leave? Should he have done it sooner? Let me know in the comments below.
