Katy Perry took this year’s Grammy awards as an opportunity to perform her brand new song “Chained to the Rhythm” that she just dropped on Friday. It written with Sia and Max Martin, and she premiered the song it via disco balls around the world… I’ve got to say, KATY IS BACK and possibly better than ever. Take a look at her performance.
Giving the song its live debut, Katy featured a house and fence with a series of dancers moving pieces of the fence across the stage. Katy rocked a black and white pant suit with white tennis shoes for the performance and of course brought out Skip Marley who’s also featured on the song.
Although Perry wasn’t up for any awards this year seeing that her last studio album, Prism, came out in back 2013 — I do want to note, she’s been nominated 13 times in the past, and on her new music, she gushed to E!, saying “I’m so proud of it. I think it’s definitely a new era for me. I call it an era of purposeful pop.”
On her performance tonight, she said, “Usually there’s a lot of dancers and things but it’s mostly just me,” she added “But it’s a different just me… just pay close attention to the narrative.”
And if you did, you saw at the end of her song, she and Marley stood defiantly in front of a projected image of the Constitution, which earned a large cheer from the audience. (4:45 – for b-roll) And we can’t forget about her armband that read “Persist.”
Okay friends, I do want to know what all of you are thinking about Katy’s performance as well as her NEW music AND her NEW hair…. Let talk it out in the comment section below, and do NOT forget to subscribe to our channel. I’m Ryland Adams, thanks for hanging. I’ll see you soon!
