[KiniNews] PAS information chief Khairil Nizam Khirudin Minister has urged Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to issue a public apology over his allegation that Perikatan Nasional (PN) had used proceeds from gambling companies to help finance its campaign for last year’s general election.
He said this following Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Law and Institutional Reform) Azalina Othman Said’s statement on the matter.
"In her answer in Parliament, the minister clearly stated that MACC conducted a thorough investigation into the matter, but found the allegations were too general and no parties were able to confirm the matter," said Khairil.
Meanwhile, PN chairperson Muhyiddin Yassin is discussing with lawyers over potential legal action to be taken against Anwar over the claim.
Muhyiddin said the Pakatan Harapan chairperson’s insinuation that the opposition coalition received political funding from gambling companies is not true, is defamatory and a lie.
“We will be discussing with our lawyers on our next course of action over the statement (by Anwar),” Muhyiddin told the media at the Kuala Lumpur Court’s Complex today.
