#KiniNews: Azam Baki told to step down, Securities Commission wants explanation

[KiniNews] The MACC’s press conference yesterday just ended up raising more questions and has even caught the attention of the Securities Commission.

Now MACC chief Azam Baki will have some explaining to do.

The SC pointed out that under Section 25 of the Securities Industry (Central Depositories) Act 1991(Sicda), every security account opened with a central depository must be in the name of the beneficial owner of the deposited securities or in the name of an authorised nominee.

In a separate story, the Islam Defenders Associations (Pembela) has called for the resignation of Azam Baki as the MACC chief commissioner during the course of the investigations carried out against him for alleged corruption.
