Last night the Life of Kylie took over your television. The two-episode premiere let us inside Kylie’s world and behind-the-scenes of her confessional interviews. The premiere also reminded us that behind the glamorous Instagram is just a normal teenage girl.
When Kylie got wind of high school student Albert being bullied for not having a prom date, Kylie decided to step in and attend her first prom ever as his date. Kylie admitted she knows what it’s like to be an outcast in high school and still feels that way now. So Kylie and her BFF Jordyn flew to Sacramento, California to surprise Albert just minutes before his prom started. Naturally, Kylie caused a total frenzy at the event.
It’s safe to say Kylie also lived out her prom dream that night, after being home schooled due to her busy work schedule. But Kylie wasn’t too busy to try therapy for the first time on the premiere. She admitted she wanted to talk to someone that wasn’t inside her close circle, in hopes of a different opinion. In the session Kylie opened up about growing up on camera, “I think I lost a lot of parts of myself… my funny side. When I was 14 I used to post all these funny videos all the time.” Kylie blames mean comments on social media for not showing her true self anymore.
The premiere episode ended with Jordyn taking Kylie for a surprise night walk on the beach to feel “normal” for a minute. Kylie dropped a truth bomb saying quote, “I just feel like this fame thing is going to come to an end sooner than we think. I’m getting that bug again, where I just want to run away.” Kylie also mentioned her sister Kendall, along with Bella Hadid and Hailey Baldwin- saying that they seem so natural and made for the spotlight. But that’s not her.
While we like seeing the other side of Kylie, not all critics agree. Cosmopolitan magazine says the show is nothing more than a 30 minute snapchat story. CNN had similar sentiment, pointing out the irony of Kylie complaining about her overexposed life, yet filming every aspect of it.
Don’t worry, Kylie’s fans had a different reaction to the show. One fan tweeted, “Feel @kyliejenner on a new level. Makes me realize I need to take a step back and make the most of life while it matters”. So did you guys watch the premiere? What’s your critique of Kylie’s new show? Leave those comments in that box below. As always, I’m your host Emile Ennis Jr thanks for tuning in.
