A lion dance troupe representative has refuted claims on social media that a lion dance "refused" to perform before the prime minister and his wife at the Gerakan’s Chinese New Year Open House. The Malaysia Gao Feng Lion and Dragon Dance Athletic Association founder Yong Kheng Chien says the association is apolitical and that peeling of oranges and pomelo during lion dancing is part of the cultural practice. On Facebook, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak had said he was impressed by the lion dance performance.
