Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim has called on the government to consider forcing logging companies to pay compensation to flood victims.

“The profit for a year for logging exports is worth RM8 billion, can’t a few hundred million be given to the affected victims?” he said at a flood volunteers appreciation event yesterday.

Anwar added that he had raised this at the special Parliament session on floods last month.
