Lorde explains her “Mom” comment about Kim Kardashian’s nudey booty cover shoot and it may not be what you think.
Upon the release of the nude Paper Kim K cover heard and seen around the world, Lorde tweeted a link to the photo with the comment, “mom.”
Now due to the fact that Lorde tweeted this around the same time Naya Rivera made a comment basically saying that Kim shouldn’t be posing nude because she’s a mother, many assumed that the two comments were related and believed Lorde shared similar sentiments.
But apparently Lorde meant “mom” as a term of endearment rather than a criticism. Lorde took to Tumblr to clear the air saying QUOTE – “i retweeted kim’s amazing cover and wrote ‘MOM’, which among the youthz is a compliment; it basically jokingly means ‘adopt me/be my second mom/i think of you as a mother figure you are so epic.”
Lorde went on to glorify the cover and expressed that her sense of humor was misunderstood. She continued saying QUOTE – “i am the biggest fan of jean-paul goude and of grace jones, as you know, and there’s no way i could support one and not the other. To summarize – kim’s cover was pure heaven. so so beautiful. i’m proud to say it’ll be on my wall.”
Lorde is of course referring to the fact that jean-paul goude is the same photographer who originally photographed the famous Champagne shot which featured Grace Jones. This being the controversial image, Kim’s shot was meant to recreate.
So what do you guys think of Lorde’s defense? Does anyone else use “mom” as slang for a compliment or did ya just learn something?
