Prime Minister Dr. Mahathir Mohamad has rubbished speculations that the Sales and Services Tax (SST) will be 16% following Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng's announcement yesterday that SST rates would be 10% for goods and 6% for services.
Mahathir explained that the unlike SST, the previous GST is a tax-at-source and that it causes prices to rise. He also clarified that the SST will not stack up to 16%.
