MALAYSIANS. PLEASE WEAR YOUR SEAT BELT

This is a campaign created by myself Mat Salleh TV to try and increase the amount of people using their seat belt in Malaysia while in a car and in turn hopefully reducing fatalities or injuries caused by this.

Why do I want to do this?

Recently, someone I know has lost someone very close to them in a car accident through not wearing their seat belt and it hit me very hard. I just felt like something had to be done to raise awareness of the risks of not using a seat belt. I have lived in Malaysia for the last four years. I love the country and I love the Malaysian people. However, in that time I have seen countless people driving without seat belts and I regularly see children in moving cars not wearing seat belts, even standing up on seats. I really want to raise awareness and educate people on the huge risk of life this causes.

What do I want to do?

I want to create this campaign “Malaysians. Please Wear Your Seat Belt”. It is a very simple but clear message and just asks people politely to do something that is so easy to do but can potentially save their life.

How am I going to do this?

My main platform is my YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/matsallehtv) where I will try and make some videos that can raise awareness of this campaign and message.There will also be dedicated social media accounts for the campaign where I can share articles, video and other content that can hopefully spread the message.

What can you do?

The most important thing you can do is when you get in a car put your seat belt on. No matter where you are sitting in the car, whether it is the front or back, please put your seat belt on. You can also check everyone else in the car and anyone who is not wearing their seat belt, please ask them to put it on. If they do not, they are not only putting their life in danger but those around them also in the car.
