Minister of Energy, Science, Technology, Environment and Climate Change Yeo Bee Yin today issued an update on the situation of the rivers in Pasir Gudang, Johor.
Yeo announced that the ministry has completed its inspection of 257 chemical industry factories in the town and has suspended the operations of 12 of them. Three court actions were also intiated as a result of the inspection.
Pasir Gudang has faced a slew of recent problems surrounding the pollution of its rivers including a toxic gas outbreak that affected over 2,000 people earlier this year.
