The reality show that you love to hate, and mostly can’t help but hate to love, is making its grand return so dust off those party pants, because it’s about to get WILD.
Since MTV’s popular hit series ‘My Super Sweet Sixteen’ dropped off the air nearly ten years ago, we’ve been lucky enough to enjoy our dose of super-spoiled kids on shows like Toddlers & Tiaras and Rich Kids of Beverly Hills, but nothing comes close to the pure eye rolls, extreme levels of envy, and slight enjoyment you felt while watching newly 16-year-olds host parties more extravagant than the MET Gala, and act the least bit surprised to receive a shiny new car worth more than my own life.
Thankfully the network has just announced they are reviving the reality series for a brand new, revamped edition of the show. According to a recent casting notice, the new format will be open to girls and boys ages 13 and older, who are willing to showcase any coming-of-age celebration, including Sweet 16 birthdays, debutante balls, quinceañeras, first kisses and even those very first signs of puberty…
Ok, maybe not the last few, but the fact that any celebration is open for interpretation will make for an interesting season to say the least. As of yet, there are no other details about the show, but the sky seems to be the limit seeing as though the original show featured lavish trips to other countries in search for a dress and even multiple celeb appearances, like Chris Brown and Bow Wow.
The email sent out by casting company Doron Ofir this morning read QUOTE, “MTV cordially invites you to My Super Sweet… an extraordinary television event featuring the most important day of your life marked by the greatest of celebrations – if it’s going to be lit, we want to know about it!”
The only requirement besides only being older than teen-status is that you be QUOTE, “the most popular, outrageous, glitzy, girl or boy planning extravagant parties that will show the world just how #blessed they really are!”
So while I take the rest of the day to come up with an excuse to celebrate myself, I want to hear what you guys think about this super-sweet revival, so hit us up right down here in the comments, and as always, don’t forget to subscribe. Thanks so much for hanging out with me here on Clevver News, I’m your host Emile Ennis Jr. and I’ll see you next time.
