Former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak said businessperson Low Taek Jho should be accountable but stopped short of joining calls for him to return to Malaysia where he is wanted by the authorities.
Najib was asked to respond to former Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin's call for Low to return to the country after the businessperson criticised Malaysia's seizure of his superyacht the Equanimity, which was suspected to have been acquired using misappropriated 1MDB funds.
