The Education Ministry has abolished the term exams for Year 1,2 and 3 students in primary schools.
Education director-general Datuk Dr Amin Senin said starting next year, classroom-based assessments will be strengthened instead, to ensure that teachers focus on character-building.
He added that these assessments will be student-centred, fun and contain 21st-century learning elements.
