Perhilitan has launched "Ops Belang", a 24-hour monitoring of known tiger habitats or “hotspots” in Malaysia in its battle against poaching.
In an exclusive interview with The Star, Perhilitan director-general Datuk Abdul Kadir Abu Hashim said the main purpose of "Ops Belang" is to protect the species of Malaysia’s icon, the Harimau Malaya, which is now facing a reduction in numbers to less than 200 due to poaching and snares.
