The Lesser Known Part of China Town
Petaling Street is quite famous for its offerings through its market, but not many know that just a stone's throw away from Petaling Street is another alley with its very own thriving market known as Pasar Karat (Malay for Rust Market). Just next to Petaling Street, Pasar Karat have been operating for over many years, and recently some the market sometimes expands to the main road too!
Unlike Petaling Street, Pasar Karat is more like a flea market where strange merchandise and second hand items of dubious origins are sold. Also, street vendors peddle miraculous "cures" from strange oils to tooth pulling and even massages, claimed to improve health and remove illnesses.
The variety found in the Pasar Karat is impressive from collectables & antiques to VCDs and electronics to even t-shirts and shoes though the quality is questionable for most of the wares offered. Also, many of the goods found here are obtained from unknown sources.
Curious visitors can try to look for the Pasar Karat from 5.30am to 10.00am.
