On Wednesday, retired Royal Malaysian Air Force sergeant Zaidi Salleh dived from the Sultan Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah Bridge to rescue a woman who attempted suicide.
Today the caretaker Penang state government honoured him for his daring rescue.
Caretaker Penang chief minister Lim Guan Eng noted now the 52-year-old, who is currently attached to the auxiliary police force, acted like a hero usually seen in action films.
