The Movement Control Order that was reinstated in January came with a new barrage of Standard Operating Procedures that changed the retail landscape of Malaysia once again. Until just two days ago, the once bustling Petaling Street was now a quiet shadow of its former self.

Today traders are rushing to clear out their Chinese New Year stock as restrictions on retail businesses relaxed. Some traders will even their shops on Chinese New Year itself in order to keep their businesses running and cover costs.

We speak to the Kuala Lumpur Hawkers and Petty Traders Association chairman Ang Say Tee for his explanation on this matter.
