Petronas sensors show no gas leak before Putra Heights explosion

While the depth and extent of the excavation works are still undetermined, Selangor Police Chief Hussein Omar Khan said no gas leakage was detected by pipeline-owner Petronas before the fire.

He explained that Petronas has sensors and systems in place to detect any pressure drop, which would have indicated a leak.

Based on information from the Fire and Rescue Department, he added that a gas leak on its own - without ignition - would not have caused an explosion of such magnitude.
