PKR communications director Lee Chean Chung today announced that the party will be leading a class action lawsuit against banks that do not act in the interest of their customers in scam cases.
In a statement, the party also said the government and the banks have a moral obligation to take proactive action, because these scammers' crimes are based on fraud or malicious intent.
The party said every year an average of 20,000 people fall victim to banking scams, with more than RM660 million stolen by scammers.
