Former minister Khairy Jamaluddin has questioned why PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli was on the campaign trail in Sungai Bakap when he was currently a hated figure by the public.

He said usually parties would consider party leaders image at a particular time and tell them not to show up as it could affect the campaign.

According to Khairy, Rafizi's actions gave a boost to the opposition in the by-election, especially PAS, as they they didn't have to counter him and instead featured a contrasting image with Perikatan Nasional's election director Sanusi Md Nor engaging in activities such as football and volleyball.
