Click to Subscribe! ► - My Kershaw Designs 820 rebuildable, brushed, DeWalt motors showed up sooner then expected so I figured I would get them into my 1/4 scale axles at this early stage of the game. I do have some concerns over the gears in the axle being too small to take the force of these larger motors, and I also haven't checked to see if the suspension links are going to fit - but no risk, no reward! I would rather do the preliminary work for others that are thinking of this mod, to see if I can make it work or not. I had to re-drill the motor can so it could accept the smaller motor mounting plate for the axle. I then had to re-tap the holes to accept the M4 screws, so as not to strip the hex-head when tightening them down.
In these style of videos, I know there are all skill types of hobbyists watching. Though I respect the senior hobbyists in the film, I also try to cater to the new hobbyists that watch our show. I often try to insert helpful tips or tricks I have learned over my years of enjoying this hobby. If there is any way I can get more folks to try this hobby, then I'm willing to give it a try!
