I reacted to Keroncong (Gesang), Dangdut (Rhoma Irama), Qasidah (Siti Hawa) and Jaipongan (Kembang Tanjung).

This is my reaction to Indonesian Traditional Music.

There are quite a lot of different types of Indonesian Music.

Keroncong is a traditional Indonesian music that originated from the times of the Portuguese colonial era. It was original made from the colonial instruments brought by the Portuguese combined with traditional Indonesian instruments.

Dangdut is a type of music that takes influence from local Indonesian factors, Indian factors and Malay factors. It originated as a type of dance music in the 1960's and 1970's.

Qasidah derives from Arab music but today it mixes popular Islamic music with local Indonesian dialects.

Jaipongan is a very interesting type of music that originates from Sunda in West Java. It has a very unique and different rhythm and is very hard to replicate.
