Manaweblife drove just over an hour to Pekan Pantai to Mr Kok's Haw Kee Orchard for a rare experience with red flower durian. This species is unlike the more  popular species and is not often available in the market. This vast out of town private orchard has the red durian as a special attraction. The exterior of the fruit is smaller than Musang King, and is light green, while the fruit's seed is smaller. The light creamy meat of this species is only felt as an after taste, like liqueur ! Hence it is a new experience for many to try.  Haw Kee Orchard also have a wide selection of fresh fruits of the popular species such as Musang King, D24, 101, Tawa, Gapai and Vanilla etc. This orchard offers an informative  tour of its facilities besides tasting the fruits on the farm site. You will find other local fruits grown here too. Most interesting of all is for city folks to be captivated by the natural forest environment within the orchard surroundings.  It is an ideal family outing for the weekend !
