The Prison Department has refuted rumours that former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak was not being held in a jail cell in serving his 12-year prison sentence for misappropriation of funds.
The rumour that was spread through WhatsApp recently allegedly cited an anonymous source who worked at the Kajang prison, claiming that Najib was instead placed in a house meant for "senior prison officers".
The Prison Department said the information is not true and called on the public to stop spreading it.
