Scientists Want To BAN Glitter & Here's Why

Okay if you’re like me you probably see your life flashing before your eyes because I’ve done some crazy stuff with glitter – remember glitter eye brows? I mean I could’ve gone blind, BUT guys apparently that’s not exactly the way the sparkly substance is killing us.
So you know those cool shower gels and lotions that have little specs of glitter in them? So cute right? NOT CUTE! Not cute at all because they’re totally ruining the environment. The little specs are officially called microplastic and a research scientist in New Zealand says “I think all glitter should be banned, because it’s microplastic.” Translation – when this stuff goes down the shower drain it’s ruining our water.
Plus OMG check out this picture from a preschool in the UK. That kids hands are covered in glitter. The caption says: No sparkly Christmas cards for some parents this year, as nursery children BANNED from using glitter #glitterban
Oh also in case you didn’t know this – 7 states in the US including California have already banned this microplastic stuff but hello it’s still killing us! Are you guys shook or do you not even care? I hope you do! But what will Coachella look like without glitter? Something to really ponder….
