Taylor Swift congratulates Russell Westbrook in a surprising pre-recorded NBA Awards video.
Today’s episode of News Feed is brought to you by Pandora Premium, where you can search and play your favorite songs. Pandora: sounds like you.
Taylor has resurfaced in an unlikely place.
Who knew Russell Westbook was part of Taylor Swift’s squad? Last night the basketball player took home the NBA MVP trophy at the inaugural NBA Awards. And guess who made a pre-taped video to congratulate him? Yup, our girl Taylor Swift. Russell’s team the Oklahoma City Thunder later shared her video on Twitter- and you have to see it to believe it.
After taking credit for Russell’s success and admitting the player taught her how to “Shake It Off”, Taylor goes on to gush about their twenty year friendship which she admits is fake. The singer ends by sending Russell the quote “biggest hug ever” and even blew him a kiss.
The admiration seems to be mutual. Russell has previously revealed his affinity for Taylor’s music. In a 2013 Vine video he sang along to “22”, in 2015 Russell sang karaoke to Taylor’s hit “Bad Blood”, and the same year he was seen at her 1989 concert.
Taylor has kept a low profile this year while she works on her next album, so it’s surprising to see she found time to shout out one of her famous fans. However, some users on Twitter apparently weren’t aware of Russell and Taylor’s mutual affinity because they aren’t feeling Taylor’s video. One fan responded to the video on Twitter writing, “We just took an L for this. Delete immediately.”
Do you think the Thunder took an L for Taylor’s video? Tell us below if you think the video is hilarious or just kinda awkward?! As always, I’m your host XXX XXX, and I’ll see you guys next time.
