Taylor Swift is back and better than ever before, which we didn’t think was possible. Tay’s sixth album Reputation dropped on Friday and if you haven’t been listening to it nonstop since then what have you been doing with your life?
Reputation is a certified hit and it looks like Taylor may beat her own record. In just one day, around 700 THOUSAND albums were sold and it’s on track to sell over one million copies in its first week. Taylor is already the only artist to have three different albums sell over one million copies in the first week, so why not make her the only one to have four?!
Reputation is also shaping up to be the biggest selling album of the year. Ed Sheeran’s DIVIDE album currently hold the title with 909,000 albums sold, so the fact that Tay is only 200 Thousand away in the first week makes us think the title will definitely be hers.
If that wasn’t enough, Taylor was the musical guest on Saturday Night Live with host Tiffany Haddish. Although Taylor didn’t sing any of her brand new tracks that we just got on Friday, seeing her perform live for the first time in what feels like forever was more than enough for us.
For her first performance, Tay sang “...Ready For It?”, which was the second song released from the album. With backup dancers and actual choreography from Tay, she absolutely killed it.
Did you catch what was around Taylor’s microphone? Yep, it was a gold glittery snake wrapped around the microphone. How iconic is that? Taylor has pretty much become the queen of snakes for her new Reputation era and we honestly wouldn’t be surprised if she announced that she was a Parseltongue.
Taylor slowed things down for her second performance and did an acoustic version of “Call It What You Want” and gave us some serious old-school Taylor feels. She sat on a stool with her guitar and it was straight perfection.
Her microphone was covered in the signature Reputation font this time and instead she showed off her snake love through her sweatshirt.
We loved seeing Taylor on stage and can’t wait to see more live performances! What was your favorite part about SNL and did you like Taylor’s performances? Let us know in the comments below and then click here to see us decode every single song from Reputation. I’m Naz Perez, thanks for tuning in.
