The Hidden Message In Ariana Grande's "The Light Is Coming" You Might've Missed

Not only did Ariana Grande deliver a bop when she released ‘The Light Is Coming,’ the song also included a pretty powerful hidden message within it.
I’m not the only one who didn’t catch the hidden message the first time, right?
If you thought ‘The Light Is Coming’ is JUST a bop, well, think again. Although Ariana has yet to confirm these theories, many believe the new song contains a political message hidden within the vocal sample that plays throughout the track – you know, the one that basically threw everyone off and had them scrambling to check if they had audio playing from another browser tab.

From a first listen, the vocal sample of a man yelling, ‘you wouldn’t let anybody speak and instead…’ was just that, a vocal sample. But MTV News’ Madeline Roth actually did a little digging and found out the sample comes from a CNN clip of a man shouting at Senator Arlen Specter at a Pennsylvania town hall meeting back in 2009.

So, it’s safe to assume that there’s a deeper meaning behind ‘The Light is Coming’ – and it’s political one.
One fan tweeted QUOTE, “I looked at the full vid and I’m pretty sure it’s about health care. Interestingly enough the guy yelling (who is sampled) was mad about Obamacare and seems to be opposite of any of Ariana’s views. Confused! @arianagrande help.”
Another tweeted, “I think she used that sample to say let
EVERYONE speak regardless of their views which would go along with the lyrics, ‘if it ain’t your view, that’s the bottom line’ OR it was a satirical jab at both that person and who the songs about.”
While one simply questioned, “I wonder why Pharrell, Ariana & Nicki used this one. Like, is there some sort of backstory that I need to know?” We need answers, Ari and we need them NOW.
