Gerakan Pembela Ummah (Ummah) leader Ismail Mina says Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi should have referred to him first before responding to an alleged comment he made.
Ismail claimed that his comment on how non-Muslims were not involved in the fight against communist insurgents was taken out of context.
The head of the umbrella body for some 300 Muslim civil society organisations said he never once made any reference to communists.
He also reportedly denied saying that it was only the Malays who had fought against Bintang Tiga.
At the same time, Ismail insisted the facts and documents he read showed that no other races fought alongside the Malays after Bintang Tiga targeted Malayans suspected of being Japanese collaborators, or spies.
