Former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad said that Umno, which was once praised, is now looked down upon by its own party members, based on the party's poor performance in the six state elections last August 12.

Mahathir said Umno changed drastically when the party leader no longer prioriticed the party's struggle.
