Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said there had been many fatal accidents on the road due to retreaded tyres which does not follow the set standards. This was after a raid operation called "Ops Bersepadu Khas Tayar Celup" was carried out and saw the arrest of two illegal tyre retreading factories suspected to be producing tyres with unauthorised Sirim Malaysia Standards certification last week.
