After less than a week of putting up with Lima we were itching at the chance of escaping the hustle and bustle of the city in search of something more laid back. Just kidding. However, when the opportunity to visit a Peruvian Vineyard in Ica was presented to us by Audrey's Uncle and Aunt, we jumped at the opportunity. The private property we ended up staying on was called Viñas Queirolo. This massive Peruvian vineyard was our playground for the weekend. We spent several hours exploring the vineyards, riding our bicycles along the dirt paths and driving to reach scenic higher vantage points. The rest of the time we sipped on locally produced wine and indulged our taste buds with homemade meals. In a word we felt pampered. It's not often that we pursue this type of travel but when the opportunity presents itself we relish every single moment of it ;)
Viñas Queirolo: Staying overnight at a Peruvian Vineyard in Ica, Peru Travel Video Transcript:
So good morning from Ica! We are spending the weekend here at a vineyard. It is called Viñas Queirolo. And it is a beautiful property. It has been so nice to get away from the city just for a day. And yeah, we're going to show you around because it is just a beautiful place.
So we sampled a lot of wine last night and then we ended up going to bed at like eight thirty because we were exhausted. Which meant we woke up really early this morning. We were actually up at six Am. Woke up to the sound of chirping or hooting owls. So we decided to go out for a bike ride. And yeah, we're just riding around the vineyards and it is really quiet. Really peaceful. And really scenic.
So I'm not sure if these grapes are ready or not but I'm going to sample one because they're just hanging there and it is a little tempting. Oh, spider web. Let's take one. I'm just going to rub it clean. It has a little bit of dirt on it. Show me that grape? Mmmm. Those are very sweet. Those are definitely ready. I'm getting eaten alive while I eat my grape. We both are. I think it is time we left the vineyard.
Check out my sweet ride.
And this over here is just my wine barrel for personal consumption only, of course.
So one of the things I love about Spanish style architecture is that you usually have a courtyard right in the middle. So I'm going to show you.
Tada. Green space in the middle of your home.
