West Auckland’s Best Food: Burgers, Birria and Breakfast

Avondale's food scene is small but mighty! This suburb in west Auckland has some brilliant food which makes it worth visiting- from one of the best spots to grab breakfast in Tāmaki Makaurau at Burnt Butter Diner to the pop up turned brick and mortar burger sensation Baby G Burger. Add to that the new opening of family run business Toko Tacos and you have a trifecta of delicious eats.

What we ate and where we ate it:

1. Smoked Fish Crumpet $28 The Eastern $26 Iced coffees $7, Lemon Meringue Pie $10.50 at Burnt Butter Diner, 62 Rosebank Road, Avondale, Auckland. Open Tuesday to Friday 7am-2pm and Saturday 8am-2pm. Closed Sunday and Monday.

2. Birria Tacos $18.99 Fish Tacos $21.99 at Tokos Tacos, 1954 Great North Road, Avondale. Open Tuesday to Saturday midday-3pm and 5pm-9pm.

3. Cheeseburger (single) $13, Oklahoma Dreaming (single) $13.50, Fries $5 at Baby G Burger, Open Thursday to Sunday 12:30pm-9pm.
