Gerakan Pembela Ummah secretariat head Aminuddin Yahya insists that the concept of "Malay supremacy" is equivalent to the supremacy of Islam and that Malaysia is a "Muslim country."
"To uphold our status as a Muslim country, of course, we need Muslims. And Muslims are Malays. So that is what we meant (by upholding Malay rights).
"The issue of (some) Muslims being uneducated (and left behind), that is something that needs to be improved from time to time.
"Not to remove the principle (of Malay supremacy)," said Aminuddin who earlier led a 10-member delegation inside Parliament to hand over a memorandum of objection against Malaysia's plans to ratify the United Nations International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (Icerd).
